VM Datastore spanning multiple Extents
Hi,
Our VM datastores use extents. One particular datastore uses two different extents to create the volume. Is it possible for the two extents to live on volumes on separate SANS? If this is possible what happens if one of the SANS or the volume where the extent lives, is offline?
Cheers

Cheers, when you mention corruption, if the VMs are powered off and the datastore goes offline, when both Sans / volumes are back live will the datastore then be back online and the VMs can be powered on safely or is the datastore lost?
Secondly if I move the running vms to another datastore, can I then delete the problem datastore and recreate on the same volume on the san without the Unneeded expansion onto the other extent? Hope that makes sense.
Cheers.

Your datastore gets corrupted and goes offline
If you do this good accurate documentation is required to MAP datastore because we’ve had many EE VMware Admins or Storage Managers that have deleted LUNs that thought unused were an extent on another datastore
RESULT = CATASTROPHIC LOSS OF ALL VMS
you have been warned!!!
