Are there companies offering paid technical support for various open source software?

Can someone recommend a company that can provide tech support for various open source software?  I work in a small library with different LAMP/WAMP servers that I manage and troubleshoot when necessary, but when I will go on vacation there will be nobody to do that so my colleagues are wondering whether they could pay (preferably not too much) for occasional tech support.

Advertise in your local kijijii or craigslist in your local area. A consultant taking on a new client may want a fair sized retainer.
Your best bet is to put together a set of requirements, and shop it around your local tech support shops.   The simpler he requirements, the cheaper the bids.

To me, its not wise to have a single person responsible for supporting your environments.  I always managed with the notion any one person could get run over by a bus tomorrow.   If you can't afford to add a person full time, think about using a managed services provider or one of the local tech support companies on a regular basis (once a week or once or twice a month) to perform a variety of those tasks.

ASKER

Thank you David and Fred,

I appreciate your suggestions.  While I rather have a one-off, ad hoc tech support that we would only use if needed, as opposed to having someone on retainer, we will look at local tech support specialists to see what's available.
