ipsec ike error 65535

hi i am seeking help with connecting to ipsec vpn
my vpn was working until i upgraded my macbook to High Sierra 10.13.14
now when i try to VPN i get this error "An unexpected error occurred, Try reconnecting if the problem continues verify the setting and contact your administrator"
i checked the ppp.log and the last date was May 8th with an error IPSec connection failed <IKE Error 65535 ()xFFFF) Unknown error>

nothing really is showing up in system.log when i try to connect to vpn


i have other MacBooks in my environment and they can connect via VPN, i reset the PR RAM and tried testing in verbose mode but stll same result

any help would be great-fully appreciated

what kind of VPN is it?  a commercial VPN with the servers are located overseas?

did you simply try removing the existing VPN connection (which was created using an macOS version older than HS) and recreate it again using the same parameters?

its a VPN that connects to our FW in Boston, we are in NYC

i did try to remove and re-add but it did not work, the VPN works off a certificate which i added in to keychain and added "always trust " permissions

i am using cisco ipsec so i don't have those specific options

this has turned out to be a certificate issue - we download the ASA FW cert and added to the macbooks and it worked
