I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I am sure Google backs things up for its purposes, but not so far as I know for you.

You need to be responsible for your own Google Drive backups to your own source (USB Hard Drive say, or NAS for big volumes)

But you need to service yourself.

this client just upgraded google drive to 100GB they will pay $20 per year. So you are confirming that if one of the empolyees deletes something from the google drive that data will be lot forever ?

it doesn't sound right John...i know some company retain the client data for 30- 60-90 in case you need to restore.
this is why i am asking this question. if its true what you say i must plan a to backup their data periodically into an external drive.

but i need to be sure about this.

Thank you John,

You would have to ask Google Support, but deleted data is gone to you so far as I know.

Definitely back it up

Does your client have a personal Google Drive account or a Business/School one with G Suite?

My Business GD account has stuff I put in the trash from September, so its been stored for over 6 months. if I delete it from the trash, Google can help restore the file, but it doesn't say how long a file can be deleted from the Trash and still be restored.

Your G Suite Admin might be able to restore a file without contacting Google right away if you have G Suite.

Hope this helps.

In the first link I mentioned in the section More on how to find Files -> Which files can be recovered, Google states they can help you recover
recently deleted files for a limited time if you use Google Drive with a consumer account (and not an account through your work, school, or other group) AND one of these is true:

You created the file.
You uploaded the file to Google Drive.
You accepted ownership of the file from someone.

There should be a link in the upper right to contact Google to get help recovering a file.

The consumer account is the free account correct ?
JohnBusiness Consultant (Owner)Commented:
Yes.   That is correct
ItaliabellaAuthor Commented:
Thank you for confirming!! But they say for a limited time.? It's 30- 60-90 days ??
Martin NguyenHelpDesk TechnicianCommented:
According to this thread, its within 60 days.

Hope this helps!
