Our environment is Wyse thin clients connecting to an RDS 2012R2 Farm.  The default web browser is IE11. We have a site which won't work with IE so we need to install Chrome. We would like to not present it to users but rather have a shortcut call Chrome which will call the site.

How can we go about that?

I'm assuming you are using VMware Horizon View for your VDI infrastructure. If you have VMware UEM, you can use that to configure various user settings and behaviors. Otherwise, on your template, you can do this:

1. Right-click a blank area of the desktop and select “New” > “Shortcut“
2. Type the path to the browser you wish to use followed by the URL you wish to open
For example:
Chrome: “C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe” https://www.harjit.us
3. Provide the name for the shortcut, which would preferably be the name of the website
4. Click Next and click Finish

Place the shortcut into the C:\Users\Default\ profile location which ensures that every single user that logs in to the computer, will receive it. Since new profiles upon login are all generated copies based on the Default profile.
