how to add barcode functionality to my windows form

I want to add printing barcode functionality in my windows form, can anyone help me finding a free control to perform the basic functions of creating barcode in my forms.
All what I need is to show the barcode into a picturebox for given code, the barcode type is not important.... just basic functionality
I am using vb.net.

If you can provide me with code to build this functionality myself.... That is really appreciated. Thanks for the help

I don't know of any free controls, but you can get free Barcode Fonts, there are lots of them around. You have to be careful to use the right size font for the control size; the free fonts don't scale well at all.

If you want full control you'd have to use something like the IDAutomation stuff, but it's pricey.

Hi Scott,
Is there an example in vb.net on how to use the fonts, and where can I download them from.... And how to select the size? does each font come with many sizes or what? and where to save these fonts on the PC and finally how to ship them with my vb.net application?

You need this font http://www.free-barcode-font.com/
After that, you will have the same controls over the barcode, as you have over any other text field/font. So if the barcode is too small, just up the font size to your liking.

Please note the formatting with the extra * sign in front and after the text. Otherwise it won't scan the text correctly.

Hi Kimputer

What you are providing is too good to be true, I cannot imagine the simplicity of your solution... I will try it tomorrow (now it is about 11PM) and if it works, You have done a great favor to me. I still have a question... Where to copy the 2 files *.ttf in relation to the bin folder of my application, should I reference them ...or what? and where should I put them in the distributed folder?.
Thanks Kimputer
