Chrome location detection wrong
Hi
We have a small annoying issue with location detection for some of our remote office workers when using google chrome. For some reason this site only (no DNS servers on site) are picking up an old location but the location appears to tally with AD site and services.
The other two sites (with DNS Servers local) are picking up differing locations.
Bing works fine.
Ideas as to whether this is DNS, Web filtering, AD sites and services or simply google?
Thanks

We are using cisco umbrella which creates a vpn tunnel. We also have a site to site vpn back to our two other sites.
The www traffic shouldn't be traversing either of these and going straight out from the site. The IP address is the IP of the firewall according to whatsmyip.com

to clarify, does whatsmyip for this site show the internet ip for this site's own internet connection or an ip for another of your sites/proxies?
ASKER
yes it does.
Sorry, which question are you answering there?
ASKER
site show the internet ip for this site's own internet connection
Where does whatsmyip think the IP is physically located?
Depending on your internet providor, some IPs are based at a generic location by default and do not necessarly reflect where each customer's line is.

Still persists. Assuming DNS related in some way.
This is why Google provides a facility to set your Geo, because at this point, there's no accurate way to determine your Geo.
