We have a client with a Western Digital NAS - Sentinel running Windows Storage Server 2008 R2 Essentials.
the device is retired by western digital - and we are not expecting to get much support from them.

looks to me like we need to repair/reload: Windows Storage Server 2008 R2 Essentials (see attached picture).

we are trying to load the windows dashboard - and it won't load.

anyone else manage to get through an error like this?

Go think you are combining two separate things into one.
The nas device, is it healthy? Is the data on it accessible. The Windows storage appliance .... Could you PTR vide specs, model of devices in use?

I'm not familiar with the Sentinel, but have had some exposure to other NAS devices.  Is the WD Sentinel really running Windows Storage Server or are you running that on another box? If another box, then troubleshooting is much different.

Potentially a service failed to start....

does the nas show any errors?
try power off / on cycle also
thanks for all the suggestions.  rebuilt the server and a database repair did the trick.
