Casting freezes from Windows 10 to Chromecast device
We have an issue with one Windows 10 machine casting to multiple Chromecast devices. We have a brand new Lenovo Thinkpad X1, and have downloaded the latest version of Google Chrome. It was recently patched to Windows 10 level 1803 and then 1903.
The Chromecast and the laptop are on the same wifi network. We can see the device and cast to it, but after 2-3 seconds, the video freezes on the Chromecast TV. The weird thing is that Youtube plays fine, but casting web pages or Office docs freezes.
We have a Microsoft Surface laptop which has no issues.
Also we tried this Thinkpad on other Chromecast devices and it does not work, either at work or home. It does connect, but then freezes after 2-3 seconds.

Thanks for the quick reply. I updated the BIOS and the other updates were already installed--still freezes. To clarify: Youtube audio works fine but video still freezes...which isn't the main usage but an interesting symptom.
I'm going to wipe the machine and not install AV software at first and see if something got gummed up.

That is a possibility. Make sure BIOS and Chipset are both up to date as you said.
Then go to the Media Creation Link, and in the options Keep Nothing. This will reload Windows 10. I have used this on an X1

Windows 10 is running, so click on the Download button (not Upgrade Button, select Save.
Create a USB Windows Installation key and then run Setup on the USB Key.
This will launch the Repair and proceed normally. (Keep Nothing)

Thanks guys for chiming in. The MTU change did it--we have no idea why this would happen with this particular laptop, but others seem to be just fine. After changing the MTU on the wifi connection I tested the physical one and it seemed to lock up after a minute, but wifi broadcasted 10 minutes of Youtube with no freezing.
Glad that the MTU setting helped resolve your issue!
Update BIOS via Lenovo System Update, restart, and the update all other drivers, especially Chipset and Video. Get all drivers critical and recommended by System Update.
