Increase storage in ESXi 5

Hi Guys,

I need to increase storage on a VMWare ESXi 5.x server.

In ESXi 6.x logging onto the server, I am getting the option "increase capacity" under storage, devices.

I am unable to find this option in ESXi 5.x

Was this option available in ESXi 5.x ?

The option is still available in ESXi 5.x.

but maybe the criteria for expansion has not been met.

Thanks Andrew,

I did a test with a drive expansion in ESXi 6.x and worked perfectly.
In ESXi 6.x when logging onto the server side I am getting the storage menu, with devices tab and "increase capacity" option.

In ESXI 5.x however when logging onto the server, I am only getting a Welcome "getting started" screen and options for download.  No login option.

In ESXI 5.x vSphere client I am not getting an option to "increase capacity" either, under devices?
How did you install ESXi 5.x ?

the datastore to expand... is it the same set of disks as the ESXi install ?

if you are connecting to ESXi 5.x using a browser, you cannot manage ESXi 5.x (by default) using a browser, so what you are observing is normal, it must be managed using vSphere Client.

and select Properties of the Datastore.
The disk set in ESXi 5.x is not the same disk set as in ESXi 6.x
However, the disk set was installed and virtual drive was configured correctly.
I do see the new disk & capacity under the Devices option in the vSphere client.

However, I don't see a menu option, or the expand option?  .. as in ESXi 6.x

Thank you Andrew,

I managed to expand the storage for the Datastore ;-)

However, I am trying to increase the disk provisioning space for the virtual machine
I powered off the virtual machine, but the Disk Provisioning section is greyed out.
