-"If you wont be there, my son wouldn't be alive today"

Maybe like this?
"If you were not there, my son wouldn't be alive today"
I like Paul's suggestion, but you might also consider the following:

If you had not been there, my son would not be alive today.
or
If you hadn't been there, my son wouldn't be alive today.
I think Bill's first one is the best

Paul - no offence intended, hence the comment about there being nothing wrong with antiquated. Glad you could see the lighter side of it. At a mere 50 years old I am occasionally shocked at how text has been modernised and am sometimes (often, if I'm honest) a bit of a pedant with grammar and spelling.
