Raising functional level doesn't impact anything. It just activates the schema additions associated with that functional level so the features can be used. I have never seen a functional level increase cause issues.

I raised the functional level many times and it never caused an issue.<br />

I just did it yesterday when updating the PCI infrastructure. &nbsp;Updated the 2008 servers to 2019 and raised the forest and domain funtional levels to 2016 (the highest).
