2-in-one laptop with functioning keyboard in detached mode

I am looking for a 2-in-one laptop where the keyboard that comes with it, will still function in fully "detached" mode.

In order for the OEM keyboard that the laptop comes with to function in fully detached mode, it would have to have batteries and be chargeable from the laptop itself, as opposed to an add-on cable.

Assistance in finding this would still be greatly appreciated.

No. I was really saying my experience in trying to find a laptop with a detachable keyboard. I failed with the surface pro.

I am looking for a different laptop.
I am not aware of ANY laptop that comes with a keyboard that functions when disconnected... Just look for a tablet, and buy a bluetooth keyboard...
I guess there's a chance. It's not really a laptop in that case, the term I believe is "convertible". I.e. a tablet with a detachable keyboard.

For that matter this may be a better choice.. Don't try and find the two together, because it will probably be a compromise. Just find a tablet you like and a Bluetooth keyboard you like. You'll just need to make sure it fits in your laptop bag. :-)
I haven't seen any either. That's why I posted the question.

"The Surface laptops all have detachable keyboards"

Some semantics:

Surface LAPTOPS are laptops and don't have detachable keyboards.
Surface PRO are tablets with optional detachable keyboards.
Surface BOOKS are convertible laptops with detachable keyboards.

It sounds like you're looking for a surface book.
Brandon, the OP was looking for a detachable keyboard that would still function as a keyboard while detached... None of the Surface products will do that...
My bad. That seems like a rather odd decision on Microsoft's part considering the Surface Book keyboard has a battery and other parts in there.
Thank you, Brandon and Scott.  Yes, I agree, It is a very odd decision.

Surely there is something that will do that.
It is an odd design requirement that would be filled by a regular tablet and a bluetooth keyboard... People have done this with iPads, Android tablets, and even a Surface without buying the expensive docked keyboard...
There are third party keyboards like this one which use the same form factor as a normal surface pro keyboard but are in actuality just bluetooth keyboards. That one doesn't have the best reviews though.

Good luck... I sure have never seen one...
So you changed you original question for clarification. Now some of the Expert responses don't make sense.
Actually the question is the same, the answers were just not right...
Thank you Scott very much as you are absolutely correct. I would like to know from the moderators if I am allowed to repost this question.
Reposting will most likely get you the same answer... There isn't one...
Wireless keyboards have been out for desktops for many years. That's why the answer doesn't make sense to me. I'm looking for more information about this problem as much as I am looking for an answer to it.
It may not be a case of right or wrong here. Sometimes the proper answer is just "you can't do that" and that may be the case.

As far as I can find there doesn't seem to be a 2-in-1 convertible laptop with a removable wireless keyboard that charges while it is connected.

The closest solution may be the suggest to get a decent tablet and a bluetooth keyboard and a nice case to carry them together. So you'll still have to recharge or replace the keyboard batteries at some point, but they tend to last a long time.
Things don't get created just "because the technology is available"... They get created because someone thinks they can sell it... No one must have thought it was a money maker, or if one did exist, it failed and is gone from history...
