Someone
asked on
how to change dns server and dns domain name for all the scopes in DHCP windows server for once
hey
It's emergency and i really need your help
there is a big change in our network and I need re-configure dns server and dns domain name in maybe more than 20 scopes in the dhcp server.
is there an automatic way to change that for all the scopes for once?

server options always overrides scope options
U may clear scope options later on if wanted to

last question,
if I keep the old dns. and configure the new one from the global policy, would the clients take them both the old and new?

whatever dns IPs you want to put on clients, you can add them to server options one by one and they all will be added to clients

many thanks for your help
If you have a GPO for DNS they won't apply until the clients reboot.
If you have the changes on your DHCP, your changes will not take effect until lease is renewed.
You will have to force one or the other is you need this change to be fast, otherwise it can take a long time for the clients to get the new DNS(s) because of DHCP lease time.

What if I just deleted all the client from the scope?

done that before.
should I delete the ns domain name and dns server IPs in all the scopes or doesn't matter?
