Monitoring Fusion Kit with PRTG

Hello,

I would like to monitoring fusion kit and fusion transfert.

I use the last version of PRTG monitoring . I have one printer HP Color LaserJet M651 and this printer is very critical. It's printing delivery note. This printer is on another site.
I can monitoring by SNMP.

This printer can send email when problem is detected, but user don't read this email .

HP Ref : Fusion kit is CE247A and fusion transfert is CE249A

Fusers or transfer rollers/belts rarely fail catastrophically. Normally, the printer gives you plenty of warning before they get to the end of their life. Normal printer monitoring should be more than adequate for this. The warning is intended to give you enough time to order a replacement.

There is no software that will overcome user laziness. SNMP monitoring will warn you about printer issues, so PTRG should be able to do so, as well as the printer itself. Other software like HP Webjetadmin or Xerox Centreware web can also do this. However, the warning will still come as an email.

If you are worried, I think your best bet is to have the printer send its email warnings to another user, one who is more inclined to read them. For example, if the email is sent to you, you can then phone the user and get them to take action. As you're off-site you would still not have any guarantee that action will in fact be taken.

Another possibility is to have 2 identical printers and use Windows printer pooling. That way, if one printer dies, the other can take over. The problem then is that Windows does not know when the printer causes faulty prints, hence it will keep using the same printer. So you would have to rely on a user to disconnect the faulty printer.

In short, the best response to printer issues is a responsible user.
