I'm looking for an API that can supply some certain sales detail from Ms Access built accounting software to an electronic device which uses Json format to request, send , and receive data through the internet. We want something already made either available for sale as long as it meets our demand, we do want trial and error setuation.

Regards

Chris

This is a unique requirement, so it's unlikely you'll find any code off the shelf for this.

Likely this type of code will require being developed from scratch.

Chris,

There's no API per say, but there are methods out there for doing JSON with VBA:

https://github.com/VBA-tools/VBA-Web

But this has some issues in regards to JSON.   You can read about that here:

https://dymeng.com/parsing-json-with-vba/

But both these relate to going the other way; calling a web service and then parsing the JSON response, so not sure if these will help you out or not.  May just give you some background.   JSON by the way is nothing more than a formatted string, much like XML is.

I'm just starting with JSON myself, but I'm calling a web service and then parsing the result.

To clarify your question: Do you want to consume or provide a web serivce?

I read it as you want to provide a Rest API based web service. In this case the product "out-of-the-shelf" is VisualStudio. It means that you need to host your web service somewhere and you need to tell it how it works. This means some coding in .NET, but the bigger part is to setup and host the service.

Here you may look into Azure App services, to avoid to host it yourself.
