I am using Windows 10.

Make sure Office is V2013 or newer and then, as suggested above, do a Full Repair from Programs and Features.

I have Office 2016 (365) running on Windows 10 and all Office Applications work fine.

If Repair does not work, make a new, test Windows User Profile (Account) (Start, Settings, Accounts). Log into the new Windows Account and try Word.

If still not working, try a new, test Windows Profile to see if the issue is Profile Damage. Office is susceptible to that.

If it s not profile damage, try a Windows 10 Repair Install and Keep Everything.

Windows 10 is running, so click on the Download button (not Upgrade Button, select Save.
Create a USB Windows Installation key and then run Setup on the USB Key.
This will launch the Repair and proceed normally.

Which version is it. Right click on the shortcut for word and locate the file, what is the version you have..

Hello Arnold,

I right-clicked on the Word shortcut and select More / "Run as Administrator" then Word came up!
I certainly don't want to go through that series of steps every time I wish to use Word.

Word does not need Run as Administrator to work.  I left two big steps for you to try. Please try them

Try the suggestion provided. Create a new user account on your system, switch to that account, and see if word opens.
Your user access control settings are set to not notify?

Did Windows 10 recently upgrade after which you began having issues with word and other office products?

Even if the answer is not quite explicit enough, I find the dialogue sometimes helps me find a solution which isn't directly posted. However, through my post (or over-coffee conversation), I figure it out then give credit to those who led me down that path ...
