fileserver broken

Hi Experts,

we have a file server with dfs and replication in site A.
Some files were replicatated to site B.

Now the file server with dfs is broken, I have to setup a new file server with dfs and replication.
Can you help me with some steps ?
1. what about the old config ? For the new machine can I use the same name ?
2. how to install dfs and replication and configure ?
3. Do I have maybe problems with the old config on the namespace or dc ?

I hope you can give me some hints.

Now I need to know what I have to do to install a new one and take over the VMDK files.
Do I have to cleanup first ?

Probably some more info on what kind of issues you are experiencing..how it happened and if you have performed any actions...
Otherwise you probably have to rebuild from scratch.

the vm is dead.
I have worked on it yesterday, the whole day. No recovery possible, no backup available.
The files itself, I have on another share.

How I have to go on, to rebuild the fileserver and the dfs and replication.
Eprs_AdminSystem ArchitectAuthor Commented:
I have seen, with dfsutil, I can clean up the old entries.

Where's that data disk?  Is it a separate VMDisk image?  Is it mounted from a separate RAID?  If it is, just install a new file server and attach the VMDisk or RAID.  You don't have to rebuild the data if that data disk is separate and not corrupt.
Eprs_AdminSystem ArchitectAuthor Commented:
I have the vmdk disks, but when I add it to another VM , then I cannot see the disk in disk management.
Any ideas why ?
Maybe snapshots ?
serialbandCommented:
Do you pay for maintenance?  Time to call VMWare.  That image sounds corrupt.
