Dual NIC connecting to Internal network an internet

I have 2 NICs on my blade. One NIC has connection to the internet and the other has connection to the internal network. The two connections are on entirely different network. When I have Ethernet cable connect to the internal NIC, I can get access site on the internal network using internal DNS. However, when I have Ethernet cable connect to the internet NIC, the internal site can no longer work. Is there a way that I can get access to both the internal network and internet on 2 separate network connection connected at the same time?

remove the gateway address on the internal nic in your ip settings

Great. After removing the gateway on my internal network, I can ping both records on my internal and internet network. However, I still can't resolve any name in my internal network. When I type nslookup xxx.xxx.mil (internal record), the DNS it uses to resolve is the one I use for my internet. It did put internal DNS configuration for my internal NIC in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-em0.
What OS are you using Linux or Unix?  The routing tables have to be setup carefully so traffic flows as you need it to. DNS also needs to be set appropriately for name resolution.
Do you know the IP ranges for ALL internal networks?

The range of IP range for internal network is 172.16.X.X. We are using Centos 6.
Would you please post your network interface config file.
With both NICs enabled what does your routing table look like?
