Set up a Color printer to print in Black and White

Set up a Color printer to print in Black and White

I have Color printers that I want to set up to print as Black and white by default.

I am testing this operation on a printer: HP Color LaserJet CP4520 Series

In Color tab, I have deselected "HP EasyColor" checkbox and selected "Print in Grayscale" checkbox.

However the printer is still printing in Color.

Any Help on this issue?

Thank you

Look for the setting under Manage Supplies Menu
RESTRICT COLOR USE
DISABLE COLOR: All jobs sent to the product print only in monochrome

I set it up on the Advanced tab, Printing Defaults

however the print jobs still come out in Color.. I had to go to the Web page of the printer and "Disable the Color"

which it works, however I wanted end user to have the ability to switch it back to Color when they want to when it is needed.

in other words, the Default is Black and White  with ability for end user to switch it to Color, as most Color printers are used by Directors (:-)
What about ... Color settings on the General tab, Preferences tab.

They look like the same settings as on the Advanced tab but I set all three to be safe.

on the Advanced tab or  General tab, Preferences tab.
it takes you to the same place. Though I ran into some printers when I do that through Preferences and Apply it , the settings do not stick, so I prefer doing it through Advance Tab

The issue if you do it either way and you set it to "Print Grayscale"  and uncheck "HP EasyColor"  , it will still print in Color, unless if you disable  Color printing through the Webpage of the printer ...   So the conclusion if you do it through Windows it does not work ... if you do it through printer web page it will work...
Super odd. I used to think the General and Advanced properties were the same. While they point to the same window, my experience is the settings are independent of each other.

Is it possible to use a compatible driver which allows all features and control of the color through Windows?
After you deselect "Grayscale" under the "Color" tab, try clicking on "Manual" and then the Settings button. On the next screen, set everything to "Black only". See this manual.

I did that through the print device web page, not through windows.
Thank you
Thank-you and happy printing.
