Physical security quesion - front glass door
Hi guys,
Our building's front door glass panel is being broken in about 1-2 times per year. Roughly. This is a laminate frosted glass.
Not an easiest to break. But the guy with good rugged boots was able to breach it with about 8 kicks.
Our glass installer said its stronger than the tempered glass. Similat to the triplex in the car windows; and the best option we got.
Question - what would be the next level of upgrade should we consider? Besides the solid door. We cannot put a thicker glass due to the door frame limitation.
Any other ideas or the solid door is the only way?
Thanks in advance!

If you have people literally kicking down a glass door, then a very common alternative (agree with the above) is a wire mesh glass door, followed by a strong wooden or fully metal door.
If people continue to break in through the same glass door... time to change to a solid door...
Also add a camera.

Hi Andy, that's another idea. I heard the polycarbonate has a doscoloration overtime. Getting yellow from direct sun and then brown eventually.
@Tiras25, just use UV protection Polycarbonate.

As for bulletproof glass answer. We asked vendors and they said the frame thickness lmited to a 1/4" of thickness. Bulletproof glass should be thicker they said. Current laminated frosted glass they installed is 1/4" and is the max thicvkness they can do in this door.
Hopefully it'll be stronger than the tempered glass with tinted film. Laminated is similar to the cars winshield triplex.

Then change out the door and reduce the glass surface area.

Make a sign that says "I have lots of money" and attach t to your neighbours door. then you won't be targeted.
