The question involves the existing section when creating or editing a parameter. How do I know what to select based on the values in that window. I am having difficulty in understanding what one value does over the other. See image. If I use Reference then which one? If I use Job Number....which one.how to know what to choose?

That part of the dialog is enabled because you designated the parameter as "dynamic".
That means you expect Crystal to populate a list of possible values for that parameter dynamically from a data source.
So it expects you to know what data source, table, and column should be used as the source.

If what you truly want is a static list of possible values, change the choice to Static.

They refer to existing LOVs that are already stored in the repository.  If you know they are the same field from the same table, you can use them for the LOV.  If you were to choose NEW then another one would get created in the repository.

I am not sure if there is an advantage to picking an existing one over creating new.  There is a ay to create LOVs which you could then use.  I worked on project and they wanted to clean up the LOVs because they had too many since everyone had always just chosen new.  It was very difficult to determine which ones were useful or even which were still in use.

Just FYI. I had awarded points and closed this question at least once. I think twice. Not sure what is going on with the site my internet connection or what but I am sure I Submitted points thanked you both and it shows it is still open. I KNOW I DID. FO SHO. Is this common or just me? Not the first time?

I still do not understand why I have closed this question multiple times. Very confusing. Thank you both for the third time...?
