I am looking to set up a free DDNS for clients that do not have a static IP, the most I hear from are no ip and DynDNS, I also see more option in my router wondering what is the one you would recommend.

I use Dynu and find it satisfactory.
since you're asking for recommendations: I used both, noip and dyndns. no problem with them.

I am looking to set up a free DDNS ...
I don't think DynDns is free anymore though, is it?

Hi there! :)

As what @Bill Prew has mentioned, DynDns is not free anymore and I believe Dynu is not entirely free. For those two, all the more you should get the full paid versions. If you're looking for something which is completely free, you might want to take a look at Securepoint DynDNS.

I don't need more then the basic functions but reliability is important so if the free is about more features then I why pay for what I don't need, but is it's a difference in reliability I would consider the paid version.please advice
Whatever you choose, do not use Dyn.
Oracle bought Dyn in November 2016, and last month they announced that the service will be shut down in May 2020.
Not just the DDNS, but the entire Dyn service.
Noip works fine and should stay free in the forseable future. The update protocol is well documented and trivial
