App to Backup network drive from PC

App to Backup network drive from PC

Hi there, so a small shop has some data in a small NAS. Pretty much they use the NAS so that other people in the office can access the info. I'd like to backup the data, I'm wondering if any desktop cloud backup application also backup a mapped drive. I know code42 used to allow that but they phased out the endpoint application. Does anyone know of any other app doing it?

Thanks.

Almost all backup programs, including free ones can backup networked drives. Even if they don't show the drive, you should know a mapped drive letter at its core, is a mapped network folder, and you can use the UNC path instead.
Ex https://portableapps.com/apps/utilities/toucan
Please note, when running the backup in a scheduled fashion, the one scheduling/running the backup, has to already have access to the drive (already saved credentials).
I second N8tive's comment. At least if the feature is built in, then the backups can occur provided there is issue with the device itself. Depending on another machines means you also have to depend on that machine's connection to the device never failing.
rsync comes to mind. It is builtin many vendors NASes. If you use it properly you can achieve incremental backups.
