Hi all and happy Sysadmin Day!

I have a hyper-v 2012 R2 host. I'm backing up one of the VMs and noticed that Veeam is only backing up the C: VHD disk, it's not backing up the other VHD disk which is H:
what could I look at to determine why it's not backing up the 2nd VHD disk on this VM?

check the settings of vmserv17 and ensure that it is actually using a vhd/vhdx and not a mapped/iscsi drive

Yes that was already verified, they are both VHDs.

ok then when you setup the vm for backup (check the backup settings for the vm) check to make sure that both drives are selected.

I'd also check another backed up vm to see if only the primary drive is selected to backup

Walk through the backup setup process to verify that all VHDX files are selected. As David mentioned, it sounds like they were not.

This is a hyper-v "virtual machine backup" and not a "windows computer backup", you can only select the VM you want to backup (although you can exclude a disk, but not add a disk)

So I was able to fix this by removing the entire VM from the backup job and re-added it and now it's showing its backing up 1.08TB which would be the correct size.

Was the VHDX file that was missing added post backup setup? That could also be the reason why it was not showing up.

Any changes to the VM setup would require the Veeam setup wizard to be run again.
