Unable to scan to a printer, via Devices and Printers ( in Control Panel) on a laptop with Windows 10 installed.

Unable to scan to a printer, via Devices and Printers ( in Control Panel) on a laptop with Windows 10 installed.
Note, I am able to print to the printer, but cannot printer to the printer via the HP software.
I do not recall the model of the printer, but the software that came with the printer, is installed.  A document could not be scanned even with the HP software.
The printer is a Wi-Fi enabled.
Things not tried:
1. Update the drivers using Dell Command Update
2. Execute  SFC /scannow
3. Execute the DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth with admin rights.
4. Run Windows 10 updates
5. Look on the HP's knowledge base for a similar problem.
6. Put a paper in the printer and press the scan button ( I am not sure if the printer has a scan button).

Any ideas?

Try the HP Smart App from the Microsoft Store. Download it and run it. It has a scan utility. I use this and it works.
