We are estimating the effort to migrate a CRM 4.0 system to Dynamics 365 CE.  We plan on using Scribe or KingswaySoft to migrate the data, however, we need to estimate the time needed to recreate the custom forms, views and attributes in the new Dynamics 365 instance.

Any advice or guidance on this process would be appreciated.

Hello again, that is a good question but not easy to answer.

It all depends on the number of custom entities you have and the number of custom fields. You can use the Metadata Document Generator in XrmToolbox to document your current system.

But I think you will still need to examine everything manually.  I guess it is relatively easy to find custom stuff. But changes to out of the box fields will be harder - what if the display name for an out of the box field was changed or the display format at the field level or the length of character fields.

I supposed very roughly you could work on the basis of 3 to 4 hours per entity. But of course some will require much less time and other perhaps more.  Don't forget that you will almost certainly have to rewrite any JavaScript that you have and rather than just rewriting it you should consider whether the JavaScript is still needed.
