John mentioned an NVMe SSD. If your system supports them (completely different form factor than a standard SATA SSD), you will likely find one to be the biggest "bang for your buck" you can get. They are VERY fast and not all that much more than SATA SSDs.

Brian - as noted Optane memory is a not a straight replacement for an SSD drive.
