Not getting ASDM to open up in web browser

Not getting ASDM to open up in web browser.

Not able to open up the ASDM web page to download the ASDM console. I can ping the router and gateway. I have the image of ASDM on the router when I did sh run boot

ciscoasa#sh run boot
ciscoasa#boot system disk0:/asa951.1fbff-k8-SPA
ciscoasa#boot system disk0:/asdm-7122.bin

I open up Internet Explorer to get to the management console and download the ASDM console but nothing happens. Internet Explorer just says "Page Can't be displayed". I even turned off my Wi-Fi and turned off the Firewall. This is a Cisco ASA 5508-X. Any suggestions??

Thanks,

Are you trying to get in through the outside or inside interface?  I'd try the inside one first.

ASKER

I have the network cable going from my laptop to the management network port.
Got it.
I'm afraid I won't be of any help there.  I've only accessed ASAs through the inside, outside, or console port, not the management port.

Do you have the ability to connect to the inside port and try again?
Yes I do have. Inside being my corp LAN correct? Now I currently have 10.1.1.X and a gateway of 255.255.255.0. I would configure my laptop that is connected to the ASA with the same ip range 10.1.1.4 for example and 255.255.255.0. My outside is FiOS which is on GbE1/1 the inside which is Comcast is on GbE1/2. The other question I would have is I would unplug the network cable from the management port and connect it to the second port on the ASA. That is corresponding to GbE1/2 correct??
"I currently have 10.1.1.X and a gateway of 255.255.255.0": I'm going to assume that is a typo.  It should be 10.1.1.x and a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0.

As a minor aside, I'd avoid 10.1.1.x as it is too common and may cause trouble in the future with VPNs.  If you still have an opportunity to change it, use something odd for the second digit.  For example, 10.22.1.x.

" inside which is Comcast is on GbE1/2": How is Comcast involved in this?  Do you have two different ISPs and are trying to do load balancing or failover?

"That is corresponding to GbE1/2 correct?": yes, that name is correct, but didn't you just post that Comcast is somehow connected there?

How much configuration has been done on this firewall already?

Also, do you have a serial cable to allow you to use the Console port?  They are inexpensive, even if you need a USB-Serial adapter, and can be useful at times.
I was able to get the current ASDM file transferred via tftp but, when I do the command:
#boot system flash:/disk0:/asdm-7122.bin I get this message: ERROR: Unable to set this url, a maximum of 4 urls may be configured. Any idea why I would be getting this??

I have attached a screen shot...
ASDMERROR.PNG
Two things:
Make sure you're not connecting via https, and make sure you're using an arcane version of java.  I think I had to freeze a computer at java 6.2 or something so I could use it with ASDM.
>>#boot system flash:/disk0:/asdm-7122.bin

DONT DO THAT! that's not a boot image buddy, that's an ASDM image

Run though my usual checklist of can't connect tot ASDM.....
