OneNote 2016 Desktop should open any OneNote file back to Office 2007. Try the Desktop version of OneNote as suggested above.

So present one note won’t work?
Perhaps if you open it in Desktop OneNote and save the file (automatic in OneNote). Then try opening the file in Modern (Windows 10) OneNote.

How do I use present one note
If you have a current OneNote, file, open Modern OneNote and it should convert it.

I am sorry but where is modern one note
Windows 10 Start Menu. If you installed OneNote 2016, there are two OneNotes in the Start Menu:
OneNote (Modern OneNote)
OneNote 2016 (Desktop OneNote)
OneNote (Modern OneNote)
OneNote 2016 (Desktop OneNote)

Thank you for clarifying. There is no Modern OneNote for Windows 7 - just Desktop OneNote.
Set up a test, make sure Desktop OneNote is installed and try opening the OneNote file. It should likely be in your Documents folder. If you are trying to share the file, you may need a server location for it.

You need the OneNote Desktop that goes with Office 365, not an older version

Thank you and good luck with OneNote
If you've got Office365 ProPlus then there's a download of the standalone 'desktop' version of OneNote 2016 available from Microsoft :
