Access or repair VHDX file that won't open or mount

I have a VHDX file for a Windows Server 2019 that won't open nor mount.

It would save me some time if I could at least read the settings - as the server hadn't been in service yet but the settings would be good to review.

Is there a way to repair or read such an apparently corrupted VHDX file?

Are you able to copy the file to another folder and try it there? That would resolve a permissions issue.

Yes, able to copy the file to another folder and try it.  It still gives a message:
VHDX ErrorI don't see how the Disk Manager can help.

The hope was that the file integrity would be okay if on a known good storage setup. :(

Philip Elder:  Backup?  What backup?  :-(
Unfortunately I was in the early stage of the build and the backup hadn't yet been set up.
Yet there were some useful things set up that I wanted to be able to refer to.

I've started over now and the backup system was one of the first things I did.

At this stage I've given up on resurrecting the settings on what was lost and am doing them fresh.
But, it would have been nice.

Thanks for the help!

What caused the corruption?

Power outage at a very bad time.  I was shutting down computers in anticipation of it.
This one seemed to be shut down but has this corrupted file just the same.
Two others were in the process of shutting down and lost their VM files altogether.
Now I start the buildup with a backup capability....

Did the host not get shut down properly?

One did and two did not as I recall.
