Replace 2008r2 DC's with new 2019 DC's

Ok....

Our school has 2 DC's

DC1 is a physical box running Windows 2008r2

DC2 is a VM running Windows 2008r2

DC1 has all FSMO roles

I've successfully completed migration to DFSR

The AD schema is 47

I want to replace BOTH DC's with 2019 servers

NEW_DC1 - physical
NEW_DC2 - VM

I'm looking for advice on the order of tasks to get this done.

Thanks for your time !!!

1st step I would do is to check AD health in terms of name resolution, AD replication and ensure that Sysvol and netlogon are shared on both DCs with equal amount of GPOs. from elevated cmd, run dcdiag /v and repadmin /showreps - fix any issues you may find
Once AD is healthy, I would extend AD schema manually to make sure schema updation happens properly
For that enter 2019 DVD on 2019 member server, install RSAT - Active directory on that servers and run below commands from elevated prompt
Navigate to DVD\Support\Adprep folder
adprep.exe /ForestPrep
Adprep.exe /domainprep /gpprep
Adprep.exe /RODCPrep
Force AD replication once above commands are successful

Then promote 1st 2019 member server to ADC and rest of stuff is explained above

Thanks a lot.  So far, working well.
while adprep should not be necessary when adding 2019 (2019 handles that for you and I've never seen an issue with it) I strongly recommend following Mahesh's advice on running DCdiag before promotion but then again After promotion to ensure everything is working appropriately.
