iPhone screen black

iPhone screen is black. Just suddenly went out as I was making a call. I was able to complete the call, but now I cannot get it to show anything.

Is this "end of life" for this phone, or is there a way back?

Thanks

It goes black when it turns off.

Plug in the charging cable, wait 10 minutes and try to turn it on.  Does it turn on?

How old / model ?

Maybe it just needs a new battery (Apple Store).

OR, some other hardware fault turned it off. Then a new phone might be in order

Hey John,

Magically, it just came back on.

Note, it went black in the middle of a phone conversation, which I still could complete. Charging cable was on all the time, still is. About 50% charged right now. I thought it was supposed to go black when turned off??

I'm not sure how old. It's a iPhone 6 (not the giant size). I think I got it near the beginning of the 6 model, I'd guess, 4 or 5 years ago?

Richard,

Try cleaning the charging port. Sometimes lint gets caught in there.   This can cause a poor connection

Here is a quick video on how do remove that carefully.

Also, the black screen looks pretty common on iPhone6 to follow these steps

It was not on low charge when this happened, it charges fine, slower on some connections, I don't know why.

Been working fine since that post.

Thanks
