Veeam cloud repositories for o365 backup
Hi
Im testing veeam backup for o365 and have jobs set to run tonight to save locally to repository c:\ on the veeam VM in azure. Its backing up share point and exchange.
Ive followed lots of: https://www.veeam.com/veeam_backup_microsoft_office_365_3_0_user_guide_pg.pdf?ad=azure-o365 but need guidance to whats the best practice for backup repositories? i.e. storage account in azure or VM or virtual NAS/SAN..?
Suggestions?
Thanks

Local backup with cloud copy

So increase the local storage of the Azure VM hosting Veeam for local? Not sure what you mean by cloud copy?
I thought you were running the Veeam O365 backup locally. I'd use a storage account myself if running in the cloud totally.

Thought so.
Thats what i thought too, but is there anything specific for Veeam to use the storage account?

no you could map it on the running vm and use it like a normal drive letter.

Ok, will look into it.
Thanks

The reasoning that I originally suggested locally was that in many cases your internet connection is asymmetric (faster down than up) and if doing it locally even if you went cloud 2 cloud it would have to pass through your slower upload connection and take a lot of your download speed

We have 100mb up and down.
Plus it will cost to backup from cloud to on premise..
We use Veeam VCC on premise currently, but moving all to azure..

Asked a Q on the veeam forum and they say use a local data disk in the VM
That's good info. Thank you. :)
