asked on

loopback address for a juniper ex switch

I have a juniper switch with a basic IP setup:

device IP: 192.168.x.5

network gateway that it is on: x.1

Question is: what is the default loopback address for the device?
if there is not one, what IP should I set it to?

I haven't used Juniper switches, but I have setup many Cisco and a pair of Dell switches.

What makes you believe that you need any loopback addresses? I have never used a loopback address on a switch, and only rarely do on routers or firewalls.

A loopback address only makes any sense if the switch is routing, as you would need to inject the loopback address into the larger routing infrastructure.
