does an HDMI Switch 3 to 1 4K Ultra HD require an external power source?

Hello and Good Evening Everyone,

I am wondering if an HDMI Switch 3 to 1 4K Ultra HD requires an external power source. The reason I ask is that the USB to power connector cable for the DC 5V port is not long enough to reach any of the charging USB ports of my power strip connected to the wall outlet.

Thank you for your shared insights. I have ordered a 6-foot HDMI cable to interface the output of the HDMI switch with the input of the tv. As you have indicated, perhaps the power from the HDMI cable will be sufficient to make the HDMI switch functional without the aid of an external power source.

Just noting that my comment was based on the answers of other people who have apparently owned that unit and made the claim that it didn't need the power cable. Hope it works!
