What fresh hell is this, Windows 10?

Suddenly today, my file explorer window has a white background without an edge. Almost impossible to see and move against a white background.

Here it is against a colored background:

and here it is against a web page:

Any ideas on changing that? I don't want to go to the dreaded dark theme. Thanks in advance!

Mine looks pretty much the same.  Many dialogs and the likes have become very hard to work with, grab edge, find scrollbars, ...  this is new Microsoft.

The only thing that I've seen suggested is to play around with the theme.

So frustrating.... ok thanks.
Hi, Michael, I'll give it a try, thanks!
Hi both

Have you tried to use a different theme in Windows and then revert back to the Windows Default theme?

Or try this:

Steps:
From Desktop, right click and select Personalize.
In Personalization window, click on Themes in the left pane.
Click on Theme settings, select the Default themes you need and close the windows
Click on Color in the Personalization window and turn off Automatically pick an accent color from my background.
Select the color you wish to under Choose your accent color.
In Settings, Personalization, Colors, make sure you have the last check box on too, and have an accent color (non white) selected.

Sounds like you might have  high-contrast turned on,
You can go through settings, or hit left shift+left alt +print screen.
Also themes and prior suggestion about color has to be checked...
Nice!! I picked a mid blue color, and did this:

Show accent color on the following surfaces: I checked Title bars and window borders.

Works for me, thanks!
Hi, Arnold, High contrast was off, I just checked, but thanks for the info.
My only problem with the color solution is, it makes my chrome tabs the same color.
