Seeing profile phone numbers in Office 365

In office 365, if I enter a phone number into a users profile in the admin portal, how can other users in the organization find that phone number from their outlook clients on their desktop?  Isn't there a way to make use of the profile entries so that others in the organization can see these types of details?

To make it even easier for your users to see each other's contact info (like the phone number), you can use mail flow rules to create automatic, personalized email signatures which contain their contact data. The only question that remained was why doesn't the GAL just show up in the contacts as an option.  It seems like you have to add it through the address book manually which to me seems cumbersome.
