Office 365 custom domain setup after SharePoint sites have been created.

Hi - We have a client who has signed up for a Office 365 Business Premium subscription. They have not added a custom domain to the tenant yet as they wanted to be sure that the applications within the subscription met their requirements. Users are currently accessing Office 365 services using the 'onmicrosoft.com' accounts. During the testing, they have setup 4 SharePoint sites. Testing has gone well and they now want to setup a custom domain.

After adding a custom domain, what further action needs to be taken to ensure everything functions correctly using the custom domain?

1) Assume I will need to update users email address with new custom domain details?
2) Will any tweaks be required within the existing SharePoint sites? If so, what are they?
3) Are there any other actions to be taken to ensure everything is set correctly?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Regards

There's no way to use custom domain with SharePoint Online sites. All sites will be created under the tenant.sharepoint.com one.

Thanks for your prompt response.

- So to confirm, no action is required on the actual SharePoint sites.

- Will I just need to update the users email address with the custom domain within Office 365?

- Will they be able to log onto SharePoint Online using their new email address?

- Will I need to alter the users email address within Office 365 groups or is this done automatically when adding the custom domain?

- Are there any other actions to be taken to ensure everything is set correctly within Office 365?

Regards
