How to reset the password of admin user in Netgear Router?

How to reset the password of admin user in Netgear Router?

I got Netgear Router whose admin password I have forgotten.

The Netgear instruction says log in with ethernet cable to http://routerlogin.net/ with admin/password credentials.
I tried restarting the router bypassing off button for 30 seconds and waiting for 30 seconds and tried to log in again, still, it did not allow me to log in.

If you don't know the password and didn't enable password recovery I'm afraid you have to perform a factory reset

You will loose all configuration settings!

Netgear routers can sometimes be pretty stiff about resetting.  The 30-30-30 reset usually works.

Hold the reset button in for 30 seconds.  Unplug the router.  Continue holding the reset button in for another 30 seconds.  Plug the router back in.  Continue holding the reset button for another 30 seconds.

This should restore the router to factory settings.

Note:  If the router has been flashed with non-factory firmware such as DD-WRT (very popular on Netgear routers), all bets are off and you'll have to find out what firmware is in the router before going further.
