Block youtube download websites
We have a Sophos WS5000 Web-Appliance and Sophos Central Anti-virus.
We would like students to get to youtube itself but not youtube video download sites, like youtubetomp4, y2mate.com, etc.
What would be the best way to achieve this?

This is a fairly useless endeavor.
If you block these sites, then all your students will just tell each other about youtube-dl (YouTube local downloader) which can be installed + running on any computer in around 30 seconds.
Or anyone using a VPN will automatically escape any blocks.
Attempting to block sites just drains time. Worse it generates... creativity... which can be applied to circumventing other security.

Yeah, it is endless but I have to try.
I was wondering if there was a wildcard option (in the WS5000) to filter out anything with youtube in the name, except the exact URL youtube.com - which would be allowed.
