There is no "Omnipage ultimate 16" as far as I know. There's an OmniPage 16 and an OmniPage Ultimate. The latter is actually OmniPage 19 under the covers. Are you sure that you have "Omnipage ultimate 16"? In any case, I'm getting the same error dialogs as you:

User generated image
I'm sure it's related to Kofax's recent acquisition of Nuance's Document Imaging division. I haven't used my OmniPage Ultimate in a while, so I did not notice this (I use PaperPort heavily and Power PDF occasionally, but rarely OmniPage).

I just reached out to my Nuance/Kofax Tier 3 technical support contacts and will post back here with their feedback. I pointed out to them that there is no way to make the dialog boxes go away. Whether you click Yes or No, they keep coming back (I decided to kill the OmniPage19.exe process via Task Manager).

This is happening to me on W7, and I told them that another user reported it today on W10...your dialog boxes look like W10...right?

I also pointed out that OmniPage is now unusable because the dialog boxes are modal. Regards, Joe

Update: I haven't heard back from my Nuance/Kofax contacts, but I do have a work-around. The idea is to stop OmniPage from accessing the Kofax website by mapping it to 127.0.0.1 (localhost) in your hosts file, like this:

127.0.0.1       www.kofax.com

I just tested that on W7 and it worked perfectly. But I don't have OmniPage installed on W10. Please let me know if it works for you on W10. If you don't know how to modify the hosts file, let me know and I'll walk you through it...or read this article:

You're very welcome, Gary, I'm glad it works for you...and thanks back at you for the kind words...much appreciated! Btw, seems that you and I are from roughly the same era, although I did all my computing back then with mainframes...but I do remember the Sol-20...good stuff! Regards, Joe

Hi Gary,
I received a reply today from my primary Nuance/Kofax technical contact saying that Nuance and Kofax are aware of the issue and they are working to resolve it. My contact escalated the issue early this morning to try to accelerate a fix and is hopeful of a quick resolution. In the meantime, I'm glad that you and I (and anyone else reading this thread) have a work-around. Regards, Joe

Software is any set of instructions that directs a computer to perform specific tasks or operations. Computer software consists of programs, libraries and related non-executable data (such as documentation). Computer software is non-tangible, contrasted with computer hardware, which is the physical component of computers. Software written in a machine language is known as "machine code". However, in practice, software is usually written in high-level programming languages than machine language. High-level languages are translated into machine language using a compiler or interpreter or a combination of the two.
