Windows 10 restart without notice
Hi,
I need help to solve my computer Window 10 unauthorized restart. This is not continual. There are times i get the message to "restart" the computer after an update. There are days that I come in and see my computer screen asking for my apps passwords as soon as I log in (like outlook), which indicates to me the computer restarted. This has happen in various computer. I have check the setup and it seems that no instructions are set to restart windows on its own:
What's going on and how can I halt this?

Thank u, but how can I halt this from happening, the unauthorized restart?
Auto restart outside active hours is the design of Windows update and you cannot change it unless you have paused the windows update.
As mentioned above for critical updates you cannot stop it from restart. You could do some trick by letting some script run which would prevent restart.

Really??? not good news....
Reading the options, the option "Restart this device as soon as possible when a restart is required to install an update. Windows will display a notice before the restart, and the device must be on and plugged in." if OFF.
Help me understand,
OFF = restart computer as required (based on active hours?
ON = won't restart at all?

Hi noxcho didn't see your entry.. what about my question, what exactly does the OFF/ON means in the question "Restart this device as soon as possible when a restart is required to install an update. Windows will display a notice before the restart, and the device must be on and plugged in."

Thank u very much! I have been looking for this these past days! And thanx for the event log info, didn't see it that way!
From Cortana type Event Viewer.
When Event Viewer Opens, Click Windows Logs, System.
Right Click on System, Then Click Find, Type in Shutdown.
You can then click on next to see when shutdowns occured.
