AWS, Speech Recognition and AWS

AWS, Speech Recognition and AWS

I have heard AWS has an excellent Speech Recognition web API, and wonder if anyone knows of a complete speech recognition app which uses this AWS API?

Apparently, the demo emails you the translation and I hear the translation is great.

Anybody got any leans on an app that can handle speech to text?

Thanks.

Likely https://aws.amazon.com/transcribe/ provides the facility you mentioned.

Aside: If you've ever worked with AWS you're likely familiar with surprise bills. If not, search EE for many conversations about this problem.

https://fosspost.org/lists/open-source-speech-recognition-speech-to-text might be a better starting point.

If I had a project requiring this type of facility, I'd stick with Ubuntu running Open Software on Bare Metal servers.

One of the very tricky parts about voice to text conversion (whether to a document or realtime device control), software can be time sensitive.

For example, if AWS takes a massive hit on resource usage in the middle of your speech to text conversion, several possibilities occur.

1) If you're doing realtime conversion, the resulting text will become gibberish.

2) If you're doing non-realtime conversion, the result will be the conversion engine may have to repeatedly backtrack. In other words, rather than producing gibberish, the engine may have to rewind to some point where last good conversion occurred, then attempt resumption.

So #1 you end up with gibberish + #2 you can end up with some conversions that run fast + run that run massively slow.

Suggestion: One a new question describing your exact application end-to-end + ask for recommendations about how to implement such an application. My guess is you'll have some incredibly great comments you can roll into your design.

I actually do not have a project requiring this. I have a friend who needs speech to text and LOVES the Transcribe engine, by Amazon.

Do you know about any app (iPhone) or web based tool which uses Transcribe on the back-end?

Thanks
