Pages coming out after a long time

We have a Kyocera taskalfa copier/printer that takes a long time for the pages to come out for some of the jobs. I’m beginning to think it’s because of memory because we did not always have this problem. Does it sound like I should increase the memory?

Sounds like it could be a few things:
  • Caching
  • DPI (Print Quality)
  • Memory

Well, it's certainly easy enough (and cheap enough) to prove or disprove whether it is a memory issue.  Put another stick of memory into it.  This should not cost more than $25.

If the problem goes away, well and good.

If not, the problem is not lack of memory,  you can look elsewhere for the issue, and a bonus now your print server can spool bigger jobs without having to pause.

After talking with one of the users they said that the main problem is that the pages come out very late. Once individuals print, it takes a long time before it comes out and that was not a problem before.
I don't quite understand your statement. Are you saying that, once the printer picks paper it takes a long time before it is ejected? In that case, check resolution and paper type. If the printer thinks it is using labels or card, it will operate slower.
Once they push print at the computer, it takes a long time for it to arrive at the printer and then print
The printer will show when it is receiving data (usually a flashing light). If it takes a long time between pressing Print and when the light starts flashing, then the problem is not on the printer but on the PC/server.

Is this a problem across all systems, or just one or two?  If it's a problem on just one system, then re-clone the system drive from a system that does not have problems.  The issue should then disappear ... whatever it is.

If it's a problem across multiple systems, the issue is more likely to be in the server .. which brings us to:  Is the printer spooled from a server system, or directly available on the network?

If the printer is directly available on the network then it's possible to have multiple systems fighting over access to the printer, and the printer, being about smart enough to handle one job at a time, can not do a thing until the previous job is printed.  If the problem is reliably reproducible, have someone watch the printer when the problem occurs and see what it is doing.
It’s across several and the clients are connected directly.  I’m starting to think updating the firmware is a good way to go first.
Try a factory reset first. I doubt that f/w is the culprit. It does not show down with use.
What’s the factory reset for a Kyocera taskalfa 4500i

Before you perform a factory reset on that printer, make sure you backup the config unless you know how to completely reconfigure the device. In addition, I think the question needs to be answered as to the scope of the slowness, It could also be a network device which is causing the slowness in the print job, ie. Bandwidth Throttling, swith port malfunction or possibly even the server. I would send a print job to it directly via a computer mapped directly to the printer by IP and see if the same persists. If it does then we know it is a printer issue and a reset will likely fix the issue. If it doesn't it is not a printer issue and the problem probably resides with the print server or driver.
@ITguy565 I did suggest printing a configuration page. And the PC's are directly connected to the printer.

Thanks for the clarification, I guess I missed that part.
If that is the case, then I would still establish the scope and determine if there is any correlation to the scope vs the devices at issue.

If there are none, then I would look at the factory reset option and FW update options as well as the Driver update options as others have said.

How long it takes?

Note that if the print need to warm first, it can take up to 23 seconds and up to 4 for first print.

Then check the following :

The font you are using
The actual network interface speed

Just in case check also the PDL language (PCL6 or PCL5) Normally it should be PCL6

Make test of the photocopier only if this still slow then you can try a reset
