Outlook 2019

I haven't used a version of Outlook in nearly 10 years since using Gmail on the web.  I'm having to use it now though on my personal computer.

I installed a full version of Office 2019 a few months ago and when I just opened Outlook now, it started downloading all my gmail emails, some 19,000 of them dating back to 2006.  I'm concerned it might download them to store offline on the laptop and delete them from the gmail server.

Please provide some very easy steps for me to follow to check in the outlook settings to make sure it is not set to remove emails once downloaded.  If I delete them from the computer will it sync it and delete it from the gmail server?

What if I want to remove my gmail account from this outlook program and instead add a different gmail account, will it makes all the emails in one unified box or will it allow me to easily switch between different mail accounts?

Thanks.

Also is it set to imap as default?  If so, does that mean that the whole msg is not downloaded but only a picture of it?

You may like to quickly look over https://www.name.com/support/articles/205935497-Understanding-the-difference-between-POP-and-IMAP

Basically, IMAP is for accessing an e-mail account from multiple devices while leaving things as is on the server
POP3 on the other hand, normally (but there are setting to override this), download the messages from the server so they are stored locally (they are deleted off of the server).

So if you are using IMAP, the e-mails should remain intact on the GMAIL server.

Where is  exactly is the setting which allows me to switch on the setting which says "delete from server if deleted locally".

And how can I remove this current account and replace it with another gmail account>?  Will they be kept separate?

Also  its taking hours for outlook to pull down some 66,000 emails.  The inbox is currently at 18,000 and going up one at a time.  Why is this not downloading like lots at once?  I have a fast 100mb connection.  Is this how  imap works, very slowly?

Additionally, when | filter or search my emails by entering a domain name in the search field (hoping to locate all from: and to: emails to e.g. myemployer.com I see duplicates of the same incoming email from the person and I cannot understand why
