Should I order the new IPhone 11 through Apple or through my carrier?

Hello Phone Experts!

I recently purchased an Android smart phone, and I really love it. A friend of mine would like to also upgrade her phone and would prefer to upgrade to an Apple IOS phone. Specifically to one of the newest Apple 11 phones. She is very familiar with the IOS interface since she also has an Ipod touch, so that explains her favoritism of Apple.
So we are wondering, should she order her IPhone 11 online through Apple corporation, or should she instead place an order through her current carrier who is horizon? I also imagine she could also buy it through Best Buy. Anyway does anyone have any advice on the best approach to purchasing the phone?

Carrier order might be a little cheaper but most likely they will lock the device to their own network and i assume there will be a fee to get it unlocked later if your friend would like to switch the network.

anyways wherever you order Apple warranty and support is pretty good so decision is yours.

Look at the deals around the purchase. Bogo device, gift card, etc... when I picked an XR last year I got an iPad for $100 including apple care for a year.

I own and use both Apple iPhones and Samsung Android phones. What I tend to do when I find myself in the same situation is to purchase from my carrier. My reasoning?

I have some grunt with my carrier if something was to go wrong with the device in the future because they have a vested interest in keeping me happy and satisfied. On one occasion, I was unlucky enough to get a lemon iPhone. Apple was going to screw me around for a couple of weeks by asking me to take the phone into an Apple store so they could examine it.

My carrier on the other hand (Telstra in this case) was far more accommodating when I complained that the phone they sent me was faulty. They immediately sent out a brand new replacement and a pre-paid return postage bag to return the faulty device. Three days to get a satisfactory resolution instead of 2 weeks or more as proposed by Apple.

That's been my experience and I hope it helps.

Regards, Andrew
