Word 2016 Reading View disabled editing in most recent version.

Is there any hack / registry hack / add-on that can bring it back?

Thanks!

the purpose of reading view is not to edit!
you can use this alternative way:
set page view to fit width
Untitled2.pnghide the ribbon.

Hi Sam,

Ah!  Doing that already - we had the same idea! :D

I know what you mean - but, just feel sad they took editing OUT of read view.  It USED to be there!

Has anyone got a workaround / add on that adapts the current no-edit Reading Mode to allow editing?

Thanks!

@oaktrees
a lot ask for this, no answer.
check here https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/all/i-want-to-edit-document-being-enabled-in-read-mode/c3e9c9cf-34ac-4555-9e48-ba7dcd3fc221
As the name "Read Mode" suggests, it is intended for reading a document only, not for editing.

You can switch to Print Layout View instead, and click Multiple Pages in the Zoom group of the View tab of the ribbon. Or switch to Draft View.

This might work as a stand-in, from the link you provided: "...enable editing in the classic Print Preview..."
