Shared printers not showing in control panel

Hi,

I have just installed a new 2019 server from a 2008 r2 server. I have shared the printers via GPO (as they were not before). But the strangest thing has happened, the printers do not show in control panel. But when you print from any program they are there. The issue is because of this they cannot set default printers.

Do they show up in print management?

You can set the default yourself as well? Can you explain your setup a little more so we can see the best way forward, also what is your client OS?

Thanks
Alex

All desktops are windows 10. The printers on the workstations are only showing the printer via program like word. Shows fine on the server. No one can set a default on there PC's.
No what I mean is you can use group policy to set the default printer.

Are they showing up in Print Management?
So I have just noticed that All the printers in devices and printers via control panel, are showing as unspecified and are permanently showing device in progress.
Also are you using Group Policy Preferences rather than GPO?

Sounds like a driver issue to be honest.

Thanks
Alex
They are not showing in print management. But still are able to print to them via word etc..
Run Gpresult /h C:\temp\results.html

Ensure the policy is applying correctly, they didn't have these mapped before did they?

Also are you using GPP to deploy these?
