Primary zone receives the updates.The primary zone server send updates to all known slaves (including notifications if enabled).
Slave zone follows a master (primary zone).

From other systems  the master nameserver is mentioned in the SOA record. (first element after SOA).
all other name servers (slaves) and primary are mentioned as NS records.

Hi,

Right click on the corresponding zone then select properties>>In the General tab, click on 'Change' in the 'Type:Active Directory-Integrated' section. Here you can see the settings of the specific zone and determine whether it's a Primary, Secondary, Stun zone etc..
